Nvidia’s stock barely moved on Wednesday, slipping 0.1% as investors awaited the company’s fiscal 2027 second‑quarter earnings scheduled for August 26. The modest dip followed a 2.3% fall the previous day, which was part of a broader decline in semiconductor equities.

A potential catalyst for the upcoming results is the recent approval by Chinese regulators for domestic firms ByteDance and Tencent to receive roughly 10,000 units each of Nvidia’s H200 AI processors, according to the Financial Times. The report suggests that additional Chinese companies may also be cleared for similar shipments, a development that analysts will scrutinize when the earnings are released.

Morningstar expects Nvidia to deliver another “beat‑and‑raise” quarter, citing continued strong capital spending by hyperscalers and enterprise customers. The research house projects data‑center revenue to exceed $300 billion in calendar 2026 (fiscal 2027) and possibly surpass $500 billion in fiscal 2028. It also anticipates an update on Nvidia’s product roadmap, including the Rubin Ultra chip slated for late 2027, and will watch the company’s financing activities with large asset managers and smaller AI partners.

Stifel reiterated a Buy rating with a $282 price target, forecasting that Nvidia will outpace earnings estimates and lift its guidance. The firm noted that any pressure from memory‑cost debates or AI‑inference competition is likely to affect gross margins rather than overall demand, with Nvidia currently posting a 74.15% gross profit margin.

The earnings report will be closely watched for signs of how China’s regulatory environment and expanding AI infrastructure financing influence Nvidia’s growth trajectory, factors that could shape the broader AI chip market and related cryptocurrency mining operations.
